A much need article, thank you! If men and women keep rejecting average types (i.e. perfectly normal people) they'll be single forever.

The problem as I see it is four things:

First, younger generations were raised to believe they were special, that they were God's gift. Now they struggle with not getting what they were promised or think they "deserve."

Second, I think social media and illusion of perfection has a lot to do with it.

Third, I think people are more insecure than they let on. Being picky, and having unreasonable requirements/standards is a sign of low self-esteem and a fear of failure.

Lastly, dating apps give us the perception of endless choice; that there's always someone better out there. But the truth is, you can keep searching for the rest of your life, and no one will ever meet your criteria. At some point, good enough is good enough.

Get beyond the fake lives, the fancy cars, the cosmetically-altered bodies, the delusion of grandeur, and your own fucking ego, and you might just find what you're looking for: Real love, with a real person.

You can make "average" anything you want.
