Because when we see them, face them, interact with them, we have a social obligation to be nice. But when we're hiding behind screens or dating apps, all obligations to be nice go right out the door.
We didn't have this problem pre-dating apps when I was single. If we weren't interested, at least we tried to be kind and save face. I think people in general had more social graces back then. Of course this was before the internet turned everything into a toxic dumping ground.
Blame also has to be put on younger generations who due to their fragility, can't seem to deal with real-life conflict and accountability.
Online dating fosters terrible behavior and habits, which I'm praying don't ever become normalized. Unless it's for safety reasons, ghosting should never be the first tool in your toolbox to part ways, or end a conversation.
