I consider myself a strong, independent woman who waited till age 51 to get married. I was as progressive and self-reliant as you could get, but when it came to love, I was shockingly old-fashioned, and still am.

We are definitely living in different dating times with different dating dynamics, but a little chivalry goes a long way. A little tradition is charming. We can be equals all day long, but can't we leave a little room for old-school romance too? You're not a sell-out to feminism if you want to be courted, and it's not toxic masculinity for wanting to take the lead.

Let's do as the author says and honor both our desire for equality and regard for traditional gender roles.
