I don't have kids, but I'm going to venture a guess that we're in this mess because parents are afraid of their kids. They overprotected them, coddled them, told them they were special, gave them Participation Awards, and way too much power, and now they're entitled monsters. A kid needs discipline and consequences and to be told "no" on occasion, otherwise they won't be able to function as adults in the real world--which is what we're seeing now.
