I remember dating before there was online dating, before the internet, before Google, before social media. I allowed myself to be fixed up on blind dates because who would ask for a picture back then? You just went and took your chances. And guess what? All of my blind dates were better than online dates. There are real advantages to not seeing someone's looks in advance. No judgment, no preconceived ideas. I think modern dating has made people way more shallow and superficial.
