I was in your same boat. Single forever, finally got married at 51. No kids (but tried and failed to have them on my own), no step kids, no sibs even. I know what being alone and single truly feels like. I know how it feels to be judged and shunned, and you're right, it hurts. You need a thick skin to be single.
But here’s how I survived: I made no excuses or apologies; instead, I made being single look good. I created a full life with friends, passions and pursuits. I became a mentor to at-risk kids, and a Special Olympics coach. Like you, I’ve written countless blogs to help other singles feel seen and empowered. In fact, I just wrote a self-help memoir called "Done Being Single: A Late Bloomer’s Guide to Love” (shameless plug, sorry!)
Stay strong, Shari, keep up the great work, and keep being you!
