Just curious, are there any women in this comment section who've experienced this kind of dehumanization before dating apps? I'm starting to think it’s technology that’s really poisoning the well.

I got out of the dating pool 10 years ago, and other than routine frustration, rejection, and hurt feelings that come along with dating, I don't remember it ever being so toxic. It pains me to see so many women opting out, but I understand.

Sometimes quitting is the best strategy when you're burned out and fed up. I gave up on love at 50 after too many years of dating, failed relationships, and dashed marriage hopes. Embracing being single forever liberated me. No more pressure, no more pain, no more unmet expectations. I was finally free! I already loved my single life, but making the decision to fully own it and go solo, changed my life.

Then something crazy happened. After my declaration of independence, I met a guy, fell in love, and got married a year later in 2014 at 51.

Moral of the story, giving up frees you up in ways you don't expect. The other moral of the story is that there are still good, decent guys out there.

Wishing everyone the best!
